National Firefighters' Memorial Day

Today, we pause to remember and honour the firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty, and to recognize the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of firefighters across Canada.

We are especially grateful for the men and women of the Colwood Fire Department who serve our community every day. They answer the call when others are facing some of their most frightening and difficult moments, often putting themselves in harm’s way to protect our families, homes, businesses, and neighbourhoods.

Their commitment goes far beyond responding to emergencies. It means training, preparing, being ready at a moment’s notice, and carrying the weight of knowing that the next call could be the one that changes everything.

To our Colwood firefighters and to firefighters across Canada: thank you for your service, your courage, and the sacrifices you and your families make every day.

Today, we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, honour those who continue to serve, and express our deepest gratitude to the firefighters who stand ready to protect our communities.

We remember. We honour. We are grateful. ❤️
